no need for a technical review theres plenty out there on youtube. all i can say is THIS IS ONE OF THE “BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK DEALS” ON AMAZON FOR A UHF/VHF RADIO. this is an amazing little radio.
-battery lasts a long time with use.
-range is better than other previous models.
-picks up more range of freq than some previous models.

get an extended range antenna if you want more range and maybe a little pelican case if you want it to be in a waterproof box for backpacking, hiking, go bag etc.

got this one after having the uv-5r + for about 2 years. really like this Baofeng brand. would like to see a model similar in size and specs to this or better but WATERPROOF. that i will buy!!!

5 stars off the bat… these radios are a perfect fit for my use. paired them with the Nagoya NA-810 antenna for a low profile, close range, adaptation. Love them so far… they work great with the GMRS (licensed) repeater I have in use as well as line of site on our licensed business band frequencies. Studying for my Tech license and hope to use on 2m and 70cm once I am licensed there.

Like the size, didn’t like the wait for shipping, wasn’t aware it would ship from China. Couldn’t get it to program even with chirp, oh well at least I didn’t dump a load of money into it, I’ll use it for hamfests on simplex fequencys, Probably this stupid win8, who knows I’ll be saving for a better ht.
