Fit my 380 LCP perfectly with no play. Very snug. Two small screws can be overtightened so take care. Ruggedness unknown., January 25, 2016

I just purchased this Crimson Trace DS-122 for my 2015 Ruger model 380 LCP. The part is very light weight, and fits exactly as shown in the photo. The batteries are included with this laser. Installation was really easy. The laser assembly comes as two pieces that basically snap together on each side of the trigger guard. The batteries need to be unpackaged, and placed into the slot on one side of the assembly before fitting the two pieces together and placing the two screws. Once fitted over the trigger guard, there are two very small Allen head screws that are used to pull the two sides together snugly, and hold the mounted laser in place. I recommend that you be very careful not to overtighten these very small screws, as you can easily strip them. Go easy, the laser seems to be very snug when snapped into place, and the screws help to secure it in place, but are not that strong. The Allen wrench you need is included with this product.
The laser is easily engaged on either side of the trigger guard by pressing the red button that is visible in the photo. That red button is on both sides of the laser assembly. It is a simple push to turn on, and push to turn off. It’s not super sensitive, so you need to push it fairly positively to get the laser to turn on and off again. The installed part fits extremely snugly onto the pistol, and I did not notice any looseness or play. The laser worked on the very first push of the buttons on either side of the part. It says two hours battery life, and I did not see a timed off function, so make sure you shut it off, and get some extra batteries for the future.
This fit no problem with my Hogue grip installed. You will need to get a wider pocket holster to accommodate this laser, as many pocket droppers for the LCP are too narrow at the barrel end to house this laser. Lastly, the laser needed to be adjusted after I installed it. I will do that at the Range, and test fire/break in the new pistol with this laser set-up. I cannot comment on the ruggedness of this product yet, so check the other reviews. Those reviews are why I purchased this product, and so far I am satisfied with this out of the package, but yet not back from the range. I will definitely be careful when I clean this LCP post range as this laser part does not appear well sealed, and probably needs to be kept away from cleaning oils or direct oil spray. I’m not sure how this might hold up in rain either. Good luck and thanks for reading.

I bought this laser for my Ruger LCP. Since most home defense situations occur in darkness or dimmed light, I felt like it would improve my capability in those situations. Fortunately, I have not had to test that theory.
But I HAVE tested this laser outside on my farm. At dusk, I set up white paper (8″x10″) targets at 15, 25 and 40 feet. (A small .380 is pretty much useless beyond 25 feet.)
I fired six rounds at each target, with and without the laser. At 40 feet, without the laser, only 4 rounds hit the paper…with the laser 5 rounds hit the target. At 15 feet, all rounds hit the target, but the pattern was much smaller with the laser.
The laser speckle pattern is fairly large with this laser. It is difficult to see in bright sunlight, but that is typically NOT why you buy a laser, is it?
The greatest benefit I received from using this was that it gives a easily seen visual indication of trigger “flinch”. By actually seeing the dot move as I pulled the trigger, I was able to “train” my hand and arm to be steadier while firing.
The laser mounts easily to the weapon. The main drawback to this laser is that I had to buy a new holster for the LCP with the laser mounted. I would recommend this laser to those who have small concealed carry handguns. I plan to add one to my Springfield XD .40 cal.

This laser was a tight fit on my Ruger, and I will be range testing it soon. I have bought other Crimson Trace products, and have never been disappointed. I own a Ruger lcp380, and it’s a tough gun to put on the target, with such a short barrel. I need the assistance of a laser if not just for training, but in a pinch, I can put it on any target. What an excellent deal in my opinion. Batteries in my other Crimson Trace product last for about 1 year (6 times a year at the range, otherwise just stored), and replacement batteries are cheap and available at Amazon.
