I am not sure what all of the hub bub negative is about this rifle. I received it and had the scope mounted in 10 minutes. I had it sighted in in 15 minutes. If you want quiet don’t shoot light ammo that will exceed the sound barrier…simple plain fact. It shoulders nice and cocking is easy. Overall quality is very nice. The rifle will only get better after break in…some people are too impatient.

Really Nice Rifle with a Few Faults, October 14, 2014

A really nice air rifle with just a few faults. I have had this rifle for several months now and I’m impressed with its accuracy and power but it does have a problem with the way the scope mounts to the receiver. Spring piston air rifles have an unusual recoil and despite using Locktite blue on the screws the scope continues to move backwards regularly. I’ve seen many reviews complain about the scope but honestly it seems fine (for an inexpensive scope) to me. It holds its zero well so long as the scope doesn’t move due to the mounts. I’ll probably buy a better scope and mounts over the winter because the rifle deserves them.

The Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro is a full size weapon. It feels like a high power rifle and makes for great backyard practice when going to the rifle range isn’t possible (check local laws please). It takes some strength to cock the barrel, I’m a big guy and have no problem but my wife or granddaughter can’t cock it by themselves.

The Whisper in the name denotes that this is a silenced air rifle. Now shooting the gun you hear the spring move in the receiver and you don’t think it’s very quiet but a few steps away you appreciate how well the silencer does it’s job provided you use heavy or subsonic pellets that don’t make a ballistic crack. Honestly the pellet hitting the target makes a bigger sound than the gun does. A silencer is legal because this rifle is not a firearm and the silencer is not removable to put on any firearm.

The Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro is accurate enough for me. At about 30 yards I shoot 3 round groups usually touching unless I mess up and throw one out. On a squirrel target I can usually make a head shot at that range. The trigger isn’t great but it’s at least as good as the trigger on a Ruger 10/22 so…

So the rifle has poor scope mounts and my rifle came with the adjustable rifle sights missing all the gear for elevation adjustment. I emailed GAMO and was told to call a number to request the parts but never got an answer at that number so after a few weeks I stopped trying. The rifle came packed in a pretty cruddy box, GAMO needs to invest in more protective foam in their box. I like the GAMO Whisper Fusion Pro and would suggest if you plan on hunting at all get the 22 caliber, if all you plan on is target plinking then the .177 caliber is cheaper to shoot and usually goes for less. I’d buy it again.

What I found out is because I was shooting it like a normal gun, January 14, 2015

I read the reviews and a bunch were negative. I bought it anyway. When I first got this, I could not consistently hit the same spot. I put a Hawke scope on it because some reviewers said stock scope was trash. I found out that the Hawke scope would not hold zero. I got a replacement and it was unfocusable. I put stock scope back on but still couldn’t hit same spot 10 times. I was gonna send it back but replacement would take a month to arrive due to out of stock. So I googled “how to shoot an air rifle” turns out, it was me not the gun.

I would venture to say that most people that have accuracy problems with his gun are probably not shooting it right. What I found out is because I was shooting it like a normal gun, holding it tight to my shoulder keeping the firm grip on it, that that was causing my inaccuracy. Due to this having a dual recoil, backwards when spring releases (like normal) and then forwards when spring stops, you need a very loose type grip. If you shoot without a rest, shoot from open palm and a loose grip on the trigger portion of gun. You have to let the gun do what it wants to do! I use a Caldwell Shooting Bag and with the STOCK scope at 25 yards, 10 shots will be touching almost. I have shot many times virtually into the same hole! The gun is very accurate and the stock scope works well. I tried to replace it partly because of the reviews and because I planned on doing some night shooting and wanted an illuminated reticle.

I give this 4 not 5 stars because it is very hard to shoot from a position where the gun is not rested, as in just standing up and only resting the gun on your hands. Put this baby on a rest and you can circumcise a gnat at 30 yards!
