i bought this for a cheap advantage against home intruders, so i dont expect this to last 1000s of rounds but i shot something like 125-150 9×19 rounds in one sitting while attached (but not on, so i cant comment on zero retention) and everything still turned on afterwards. i dont expect to shoot that many rounds in a defensive situation, so i think itll be good for my purposes.

i had to dremel it down a bit to fit the giant weird rails on my baby eagle but now it fits absolutely snug. after using pliers to crank the dial until just before i thought it would break, i tried to yank it off the gun but there was absolutely no wiggle. it isnt going anywhere unless it breaks off.

This tac light/laser combo is fairly well built, and I expect it to hold up as long as I need it to under limited use conditions. My first complaint is that the adjustable portion of the rail grabber is small. It is only about half an inch long, if that, and doesn’t provide much stability. If the “tooth” that catches the rail were about an inch long (or if there were two teeth) , I feel like it would hold much more securely. This leads to my second point. I don’t know how much value there is in attempting to zero a laser when I can’t trust how securely it is attached to a frame. A third complaint about the grabber is that it has a small adjustment screw that apparently is intended to keep the grab tooth from falling off – this mini screw broke as soon as I attempted to turn it. My final complaint is that the detents that are intended to hold the selector knob/power switch at any given setting are very weak, so it is easy to knock it from one setting to another unintentionally.

With the above in mind, it is a solidly built light/laser combo priced much more cheaply than most of the competition. Despite my gripes, it isn’t a bad accessory and it definitely serves my purposes.

A final thought: make sure you have a complete set of allen (hex) keys to install and adjust this.

I bought this taking into account the very WIDE variety of reviews posted for it and identical off-brand light/laser combos on Amazon. Look deep enough and you’ll see the exact same light priced anywhere from $30-$70. I needed a light for home-defense on a shotgun. It arrived very quickly even without PRIME shipping, and was packaged well, although it came with no directions. It comes with the light, tape/pressure switch, two allen wrenches, and two CR123 batteries.

I installed it on the rail of my handguard and found that it fit snug without movement. I did however, find realize that one side has a full rail lip and the other has only partial. The partial side is the right side of the light. I was initially concerned, but it seemed to hold nice and firm regardless.

After installing the batteries I couldn’t get the light to turn on at first. I cycled through the settings with the lower rotary knob and still no-luck. Took the batteries and put them back in the EXACT same way. Now it worked. That’s great, but the fact it didn’t work just a second ago was concerning. Murphy’s Law says it’ll fail when you need it most. Not a great start here…

Adjusting the laser on-target was simple at first and adjusted well. I got it sighted in at about 15 feet with my shotgun’s iron sights and found it would be very useful. Then I plugged in the tape switch and tried that. Now the laser dot was about 3″ higher at 15 feet. I hadn’t bumped the light, slipped one of the adjustment screws for the laser or anything. I simply plugged in the tape switch. Unplugged it and it went back to where it was supposed to be. What the heck is that supposed to mean? To me it means it really isn’t worth more than $20 and even then is only designed for kids playing Airsoft.

At one point after unplugging the tape switch I found the light was now about 3″ low at 15 feet. Now, keep in mind I had just installed a brand new Magpul MOE handguard and it doesn’t wiggle at all. Any wiggling it did do was very negligible and created only extremely minimal lateral movement in the laser. Now it was inexplicably 3″ lower. I went back to the set screws and found it was increasingly difficult to get it to actually stay in one spot. I also noticed the set screws moved VERY easily, which means it’ll lose zero with the first shot, much less then second, third, etc.

While continuing to fiddle with the light to see if things were ever going to get better I noticed the light would no longer work. Started fiddling with the rotary knob and found that when cycling through the settings there was a less-than-positive “click” with each setting. When in-between each setting (no positive click keeping it in one definite spot) the light would sometimes just die.

At this point I decided it was a waste of money and took advantage of the hassle-free return with my PRIME membership. The laser was a lost cause and although the light was very bright, if it’s not completely dependable and simple, I don’t want to have to rely on it. As a toy it’s kind of cool, I suppose. As a valuable tool on a home defense weapon, it really is worthless.
