Sturdy, reliable, nice Aimpoint clone for those on budget looking for a quality product.

This optic was bought for an AK 47 from Izmash. My first optic (Holosun HS403G) could not withstand the recoil and reticle failed.

    I bought this one instead.
Well, what can I say, it an excellent, very reliable optic. I used Kalinka Belomo mount (original AK mount) and couldn’t sight it in, but it was related to a mount issue. After some minor modification of the mount the sight sighted in easily. I am able to put a 2 inch group at 50 yards.

Reticle is small and crisp (a real dot) and has multiple levels of brightness and can work with night vision devices without risking to damage the detector. At it’s brightest level it is easily visible at direct sunlight. If it all of a sudden does not look like a dot, try focusing your eyes on the target, not on the dot, and then it will look like a very crisp dot.
The optic is purged with nitrogen so does not fog.

Buttons are all conveniently located. Sighting dials have crisp clicks, very tactile.

Lens is crystal clear. The front lens is angled up, so does not glare.

I have put over 1000 rounds and mounted/demounted it multiple times for cleaning (you have to on AK) and it holds dead zero.

For you guys who are on a budget and trying to get a military grade T1 clone, consider this one. Don’t buy Holosun with auto-on, it will fail under recoil.

Update 5/4/2015 1620 more 7.62 rounds down the pipe and the sight is still 100%. I’m about to buy a few more of these and upgrade a few guns that have iron sights. This sight “will” lower 1/3 co-witness using a midwest rail system on ak platform see pics 2 and 3.

I got this today “3-30-15” and put 240rnds of 7.62×39 down the pipe and also tried it upside down on my .308’s bottom rail to see if it would kill but it’s still kicking!.

If you’re expecting an aimpoint for $170 you won’t get it. But overall it’s pretty darn close.

The lens caps, turrets, adjustment screws, mounting base are all well, cheap so you’re not getting top of the line quality with that but the sight itself is rock solid and well worth the price.

The lenses are crisp and clear with barely any tint to them.

There is some slight parallax to the lenses, but only in the extreme edges of the sight at close ranges.

The Dot itself is bright and crisp, not dull or blurry at all.

One thing that kind of bugged me though was the setup guide/instructions says in bold “the sight is pre-adjusted” to center from the factory. Whoever pre-adjusted it at the factory must have some horrible google eyes or something as my dot was wayyyyy off to the right enough that you could easily tell just looking through the sight at something right in front of it… But 23 clicks to the left and 8 up and I was dead on center for 25yard zero. Still though with all the positives I can’t bring myself to take a star away on this item.

It’s priced actually cheaper than it seems it should be, and it’s just a solid sight overall. The older models only lasted 1000 hours per battery. This new model supposedly with 1 battery supposedly lasts 50,000hours of constant on time but honestly who is going to keep track of that?

I have not yet tested the waterproof claims but I have no doubts it’s be fine, there are no loose fitting parts and everything seems to be sealed well.

All In I have the aimpoint T1 , and Now I have this.

    is it better ? no.
as good? no….but for this price range it’s pretty unbeatable..
would I buy another ? YES, maybe 2.

done reading yet? now go buy one :-p

Perfect optic that performs like the more expensive RDS’, December 24, 2014

I recently purchased the Primary Arms Advanced Miro Dot and have nothing but good things to say about it. I was on the fence about whether to spend $700+ on an Aimpoint or go with a $50 Bushnell TRS-25. Luckily, I came across this offering from Primary Arms.

In the old models, the CR2032 battery was mounted underneath the optic. Thankfully, it has been moved to the side so it can be replaced without having to lose zero on your rifle. You likely will not need to replace the battery often as these have ~50,000 hours of use before needing a new battery.

The glass looks perfectly clear to me, even in low light. I am able to get on my target much faster than when using my old iron sights, which is a huge plus for me.

These RDS’ are made by HOLOSUN and you can find a similar model from them. The comparable HOLOSUN HS403G has auto shutoff and auto-on features. The Primary Arms model does not. I prefer not having them as it is another feature that can go wrong when you need your optic to work. This is why I chose the Primary Arms model. I’m not saying the HOLOSUN will have any problems though as I don’t have experience with their specific RDS. I do like having an American company to work with if I have a problem with my red dot. The HOLOSUN runs about $30 more on average.

The 2 MOA dot on this Primary Arms model is perfectly sharp. I could not tell the difference between this model and the Aimpoint T1 I looked through. The Bushnell model isn’t quite as sharp as these two. In the middle of the day with good sun I’m still 2-3 brightness settings away from the brightest setting. I can’t even see the darkest couple settings. I haven’t tested the night vision compatibility or waterproofness yet. Any mounts you can buy for the Aimpoint T1, T2, or H1 will also work for this optic.

Overall I’m extremely pleased with my purchase and will probably buy a couple more to put on my other rifles.

Inside the package was a battery, rubber bikini lens cover, a couple allen wrenches for mounting, and the optic
