    This is a Winner!, November 5, 2007

Note: The picture shown in Amazon is not a correct picture of the Beretta PX4 Storm CO2 pistol.

With the actual pistol, cosmetic appearence is accurate. This is a great simulation of the actual fire-arm! It feels very close to firing a real 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

Very realistic blow-back action! Rapid fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. Weight, feel and balance is very good. The safety is super! It locks the trigger and the hammer will not lock in fire position when the safety is on. Also, there is a lock/release on the safety so you will not accidently take it off safe position. Flipping the lever into safe position also de-cocks the pistol. Very Nice!

It would be nice if it had an adjustable rear sight. I’d also like to see a working slide lock and lever.

With the current clips, some pellets do not work well and the gun can jam. When the gun jams, it is tough to get the clip released and out of the gun. You should keep a .177 rod handy to push the jammed pellet back into the clip so it will then release. To help avoid this problem, once I load each end of the clip I tap it a couple times over my fore-finger to seat the pellets into the clip more deeply. This really seems to help.

Great for pellet shooting; Fun factor; Best $89 I have spent, April 16, 2012
The Umarex Beretta PX4 Storm is really fun to shoot and it looks great. It weighs about 2 lbs. and feels good in your hand. Another great feature is that the gun comes with a Picatinny rail so you can easily add a laser sight if you want.

It’s not as powerful as other pistols but the blowback function is worth the compromise if you want an authentic training pistol. Using the right pellets you can easily shoot above the 380 FPS rating with some people getting into the 430+ FPS range.

It’s also worth mentioning that this gun shoots pellets much more accurately than BB’s in my personal experience. With BB’s I find that my target groupings are inconsistent and can be up to 3″ apart but pellets stay consistently within a 1″ grouping on my targets. I recommend using the Crosman Destroyer hollow tips, Crosman Wadcutters or the RWS Hobby .177’s. All three of these pellets have shot at up to 425 FPS on my chrono! Avoid Superpoint pellets or this gun will jam.

My only complaint with this pistol is that the safety is a little out of place and is located on the right side. I wish it were ambidextrous like the real Beretta.

This pistol looks and feels like the real PX4 Storm and has some nice weight to it. The upper slide, trigger, hammer and magazine are all metal, the rest of the pistol is constructed in a high impact plastic. Also the barrel is metal and rifled for accuracy which some airguns do not feature. The rifled barrel is great for pellets but not for bs which can ruin the rifiling

The only thing I would suggest that Umarex should do is to recess the muzzle to make it look like a genuine pistol. The small hole at the front of the muzzle gives it away as an airgun to an expert. Secondly I would have configured the fixed safety towards the top of the rear medal slide to actually work. It does not operate (only there for looks) instead of the plastic safety below the slide on the right side of the gun, that’s bad unless you’re left handed. It’s a bit clumsy to operate but you’ll get the hang of it over time. It has a rail at the bottom for a laser sight so that’s something of a nice feature true to the real thing. Other than that, I would recommend that you get it, just don’t pull it out in public. You and I know it’s a Co2 airgun put a nervous neighbor or police officer will get you in trouble or even killed.

I have done a lot of research and watched plenty of you-tube videos on pellets and came up with these three brands and they are as follows:

    1)Crosman Destroyer .177 Cal, 7.9 Grains, Pointed, 250ct
    2)Gamo Rocket .177 Cal, 9.6 Grains, Ballistic Tip, 150ct
    3)Gamo Tomahawk .177 Cal, 7.8 Grains, Pointed, 750ct

The manual suggests not to use pointed pellets (consider that) but I’m giving it a try anyway. Those would be the Gamo Tomahawks.

I’ll update when I get a chance to see which pellet is most accurate and has the most impact. Don’t forget to order the Crosman Pellgunoil® Air Gun Lubricating Oil (1/4 ounces)

Use Pellgunoil when inserting each Co2 cartridge for a good seal. If you’re looking for a nice quality case for this gun, go to
Contact customer service and order the PX4 Storm case. You can store the pistol, Co2 tanks and pellets in there, just a thought. It will cost about 25. with shipping. This pistol comes in a molded plastic, no box so keep that in mind.

Lastly I would suggest you use safety glasses. I’m giving this airgun four stars because of the safety on the right hand side of the gun and muzzle appearance.

Don’t forget to wear safety glasses at all times. Be safe, responsible and happy target shooting!
