    almost good, March 10, 2013

This review is from: Under Armour Men’s Ridge Reaper® Gloves (Misc.)
first off, the good. four out of five fingers fit really well. i am usually a size 9 for gloves…and this translates to a medium in these. the grip is also pretty sweet. they have a sticky layer added to the thumb and first two fingers that makes it possible to draw a pistol and have as good as, if not better grip than your bare hands. they do look cool too. these arent a heavy, insulated winter glove, so dont expect them to do the job of a heavy, insulated winter glove. however, i did expect them to stop a bit of stiff wind. they do not. at all. that is the first of the bad. they are comparable in warmth to my camoskins uninsulated gloves, which are mostly just for camo. next, the fifth finger. the pinky in these gloves is stiched awkwardly and doesnt line up well. it ends up being fairly annoying. so, in summary, this glove looks cool and does a good job of covering your hands to protect them from things other than cold. i am thinking maybe a summer time atv glove? or an early, early, early season glove…like as long as the doves are still around, this would be a good glove.

update: after having worn these gloves around in attempt to ruin them so that i could justify buying more, i have gained a bit of respect for them. they have been pretty durable so far and still look good. they do keep your hands warm if you can keep them out of the wind. the handguards on my atv were enough to keep my hands warm on a 20° ride. they also do a fair impression of good driving gloves for the commuter car on those below 0° days. anyhow, they have gained a star since my first review.

Not for really cold areas. Fine for pleasantly cool ones., January 22, 2015

First the good things. The gloves are pretty thin thus allowing high degree of dexterity. They look pretty cool from the top side (back of your hand). Being thin, they are easy to carry around and can be stuffed in your coat pocket.
Now not so good things. They are not so warm. They are good to use in around 5 degree C (40 degree F) of Seattle. In more cold or windy areas like Chicago, they are not so effective. Wind I think is worse than cold. My fingers go numb when chill winds are blowing. Another downside is the synthetic material without lining. It causes the gloves to become cold much like a metal piece left in the open on a chilly night. Because of this, your hands remain cold for some time even after you get in a warm area. They also have weird silicon patches on the palm side for grip which may be useful for some people, but for me, they just look ugly.
